 The Senior Manager Intellectual Property covers all Operating Companies in the Dover Imaging and Identification (DII) Segment, including Markem-Imaje, Solaris Laser, JK, MS and reports to the Intellectual Property Director.This role will be responsible for setting and implementing an Intellectual Property (IP) strategy for consumables and inks in alignment with the business’ long-term strategies and product roadmaps; protecting and enforcing IP to realize competitive advantage for the company; and ensuring that third party IP rights are respected. You will work in a global IP team and cross-functionally across all our product divisions whilst advising on various IP topics in support of the growth and business transition targets. What you will do: Lead development and implementation of an IP strategic roadmap for consumables and inks category while collaborating with the engineering, product development and business managers.Liaise with outside counsel to prepare, file, and prosecute patent applications and perform patent utilization and right-to-use analyses.Organize and report information pertaining to IP portfolio and activities.Undertake activities that encourages innovation and submission of invention disclosures within Engineering, Operations, Marketing, and Business Development.Lead cross-functional technology evaluation and review to enable IP decision making.Coordinate efforts of innovators and legal counsel through the patenting process.Lead an IP review council to enable IP decision making.Advise on other IP rights, e.g., trademarks, industrial designs, copyrights and trade secrets.Build and maintain working relationships with global IP contributors and legal counsel.Work with internal and external counsel to oversee IP due diligence activities with respect to third party licensing and acquisition projects.Support budget preparation and cost/benefit analysis as needed.Perform competitive analysis of patent, market and product landscapes.Conduct IP training for Engineering, Operations, Marketing, and Business Development teams. What you need to have: Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or related field. Master’s degree is preferred.Minimum of 5 years’ experience in intellectual property protection, technology transfer, commercializing technology, technology-based IP management and strategy. Working knowledge of European and international laws regarding intellectual property and technology transfer. Working experience as a European Patent Attorney preferred.Demonstrated history of working directly with engineers and marketers in translating their concepts into a strategy resulting in solid legal protection.Willingness to take ownership, focused on results, has ability to prioritize and manage competing demands.Demonstrated ability to provide sophisticated but practically minded IP input and strategy without compromising integrity. Ability to work cross-functionally to solve problems in a matrixed structure. Demonstrated ability to build and manage collaborative relationships. Strong analytical ability and problem-solving skills.Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.Occasional travel domestically and internationally.Proficiency in English.
